Capabilities

A highly flexible design allows the Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) to provide research capabilities with a high level of realism and cross-disciplinary scope.

Our research capabilities put innovation in action. Specialized scientists and engineers at the ESIF can bring together hardware and virtual emulation in custom research platforms that overcome limits to scale and remove barriers so researchers can push the boundaries of scientific discovery.

This state-of-the-art laboratory is the nation's first facility capable of conducting the integrated, megawatt-scale research needed to move all types of energy technologies onto the electrical grid in the most affordable and reliable way. The facility continues to unlock new pathways to power American homes, businesses, and industry and fortify the national energy system against all hazards.
